I really like the idea of using mash ups with maps. I think I've been using them for a while without realizing what they are called.
Glad to be done with semester 2. While I did learn a lot, it was difficult finding time to finish assignments. Thanks to the Project Play collaborators for two informative semesters!

YouTube
I have used YouTube before and have thought it was a lot of fun. It's certainly addictive too! One of the funnier clips I've seen is the medieval help desk, found here:

I'm glad that using YouTube to find old news clips or famous speeches was mentioned in Project Play. I would have never thought of that!

Screencasts
I can see these being useful in helping people navigate the online catalog, and especially in accessing Overdrive and Netlibrary.
Podcasts
I think the idea of using podcasts in libraries has a lot of potential. Using them to promote library events and do booktalks seems great, since a voice can bring more excitement to things.
myspace and facebook
I checked out a few myspace pages for libraries and I have to say I'm not crazy about them. I can see why it is a popular website for social networking, and I did follow a few links in. But it just seems like libraries trying to hip and cool in a place where they aren't necessarily welcome.

Semester 2, week 3
Remember the Milk and Jott sound like pretty neat applications. I'm more of a paper list person, so I don't know if they are for me though.
Semester 2, week 2
This week was Google Docs. I can see that this would be useful in the library when multiple people are working on a document.

Semester 2: Instant messaging
Week one of the second semester is for IM. I am somewhat familiar with this since we've been using it here at our library for a while now. I think it is a great tool for libraries in answering questions quickly. The speed of it, as opposed to email, is great for reference interviews. The biggest problem that I have experienced is being interrupted by in person patrons who don't realize you are in the middle of helping someone else.
